Historical Dance Workshops for Beginners- No experience required. This Workshop offers an introduction to historical dance technique and repertoire. Its main purpose is to offer participants experience in several different dance forms.
Workshop Outline
The workshop focuses on Renaissance and Baroque dance forms:
Renaissance Dance
The basic steps for the Pavane, Gaillard, Branle
Baroque Dance
The basic steps for the Bourrée, Gavotte, Rigaudon, Sarabande, Menuet, Chaconne, Passacaille, Gigue etc.
- This Workshop is open to anyone wishing to try to dance; it could even be the first time that you attend a dance class.
- Participants should bring rehearsal clothing (which should be comfortable to dance in), and very flexible shoes (with or without heel, but flexible) or socks.
- Recorded music will be used; musicians interested in playing during the workshop are asked to contact our office in advance.
- Early enrolment is recommended, as registration will be limited.

Admission is free for participants in the Baroque Programmes. As enrollment will be limited, we recommend that participants register in advance, by contacting our office.
