Pien d’amoroso affetto… / With Amorous Affections

Artists: Marc Mauillon, voice; Angélique Mauillon, harp

Runtime: 60 Minutes, no Interval

Acclaimed vocalist Marc Mauillon and harpist Angélique Mauillon take you a journey through the music of Renaissance Florence and Paris, to discover the origins and evolution of the opera. The birth of opera is traced through composers such as Giulio Caccini, Jacopo Peri, and composers of the ‘airs de cour’ Sébastien Le Camus and Michel Lambert, inspired by the poetry of Henriette de Coligny. Marc Mauillon, Voice

An unusually versatile artist, Marc Mauillon is equally at home performing music from the medieval era to the present day. Sometimes a baritone, sometimes a tenor, this chameleon adapts his colours to the music he performs and the characters he embodies. A prolific performer of Baroque and contemporary opera, Mauillon has worked with many of the top directors and early music conductors of the early 21st century. Recent highlights include: Castor et Pollux (Pollux) at the Opéra national de Paris (T. Currentzis/P. Sellars) and Les fêtes d’Hébé (Momus & Mercure) at the Opéra-Comique (W. Christie/R. Carsen).

Angélique Mauillon, Harp

After studying the harp with Josette Rives and Christophe Truant, Angélique Mauillon decides to specialize in the interpretation of early music, under the supervision of Eugène Ferré at the CNSMD in Lyon and Mara Galassi at the Scuole Civiche in Milano. She has also obtained a degree in Musicology of the Lyon II University. Angélique Mauillon interprets a vast repertoire ranging from the 13th to the 18th century: she plays medieval harp with ensembles Alla Francesca and Tasto Solo, and renaissance harp with ensembles Doulce Mémoire and Les Jardins de Couroisie.

On the triple harp, she collaborates with ensembles such as Le Concert d’Astrée, Le Poeme Harmonique, Pygmalion, Artaserse, Correspondances. She performs regularly in recital alongside her brother, the baritone Marc Mauillon, with whom she also explores the repertoire of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, along with P. Hamon and V. Biffi.

She has participated, as soloist and continuo player in more than thirty recordings for the labels Alpha, ZIG-Zag territories, Eloquentia, Ricercar, etc … Holder of the Certificate of Aptitude, Angélique Mauillon teaches the early harps at CRR Tours and CNSMD Lyon.
