Adele Marsland is an arts administrator and digital content creator with a passion for music as a means of storytelling. In the summer of 2023, Adele wrapped up her Master of Arts in Musicology at the University of British Columbia, completing her thesis on Early Modern England that combined music, theatre history, and gender studies to examine the role of seventeenth-century singer-actresses. She has presented on Medieval and Renaissance music and women’s music-making at Mount Allison University, the 2021 University of New Brunswick Arts Matters Conference, and to students at the University of British Columbia as a Teaching Assistant. More recently, Adele gave a talk on music & gender in Jane Austen’s World to the Vancouver Chapter of the Jane Austen Society of North America, and has discussed her research in The Argosy and both studying classical music and making the industry more accessible on the Content & Capable Podcast. Adele is also a faculty member at the Vancouver Academy of Music, where she teaches music history.
