Each morning will begin with a Baroque dance session for all instrumentalists. Baroque dance specialist Julie Andrijeski will offer a practical introduction to French baroque dance forms.
REPERTOIRE FOR THE MASTERCLASSESIn general, participants may bring any Baroque or early Classical repertoire they wish to these Masterclasses – keeping in mind the focus is primarily on music of the transition from the late Baroque to the early Classical era. Some faculty members have submitted more specific repertoire lists as guidelines (see below). If you have difficulties finding repertoire, you can contact our office and ask for the e-mail address of your faculty member to discuss this further: workshops@earlymusic.bc.ca VIOLIN

A series of reading sessions of orchestra and chamber music repertoire, under the guidance of faculty members, and featuring music from the late Baroque, the Rococo and the early Classical era. Simultaneously, there will be a Continuo Class, offered by Jacques Ogg and other faculty members. These sessions will alternate with other special presentations. The faculty will form ensembles and assign repertoire at the beginning of each of the two weeks. Two separate, different ensemble sessions are scheduled for the afternoons; this provides an opportunity for participants to work with different instrumentalists, and on different repertoires. If you have specific repertoire interests, or would like to play in an ensemble with specific participants, please us know in advance by email – and we will forward your suggestions to the faculty; an effort will be made to accommodate such wishes. Following last year’s successful launch, we will again offer a special series of early-evening lecture/presentations under the title “Early Music in Context", scheduled from 5:30-6:30 pm (which does not conflict with the Green College Meal Plan). Faculty members, musicians and guest scholars will offer presentations on a variety of subjects.
